With at least three loan sharks and no banks operating in the town, the Credit Union NEFIRST was set up to challenge the status quo and create a local banking option. It has grown steadily from day one, with two schools now having savings clubs and many regular adult savers.
For savings and loans, fill out a simple application along with proof of address and pay £1 to join and start saving. You will receive a savings book when you join to keep a record of your savings. Our credit union collection point at number 91 Church Street is open Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri – 9am-3pm. Contact 01388 417600 for more information. To download forms for savings, loans and withdrawals go to the NEFIRST website for paper copies and more information pop into Shildon Alive, 91 Church Street or contact NEFIRST direct on 0330 055 3666.
